  • 2015-07-23:  OpenMPI 1.6 deprecated
    Category:  General Announcement

    Dear HCC User,

OpenMPI 1.6 usage has been shown to be correlated with multiple, albeit intermittent, runtime errors on Tusker and Crane. Thus, all codes compiled and linked with OpenMPI 1.6 should be recompiled with OpenMPI 1.8. OpenMPI 1.6 will be deleted from all HCC machines except Sandhills on August 3, 2015.

Sandhills will have a one-day downtime August 12, and recompiles may wait for after those upgrades have been implemented.

    Maintenance is complete on Crane.

NOTE: Crane (today) and Tusker (June 23rd) had the following changes made to the Python module:

The system-wide Python versions provided via the python 2.7, 3.3, and 3.4 modules was changed to the Anaconda Python distribution from Continuum Analytics. For more information on Anaconda, please see https://hcc-docs.unl.edu/x/kImx. We anticipate this change will be largely transparent for the vast majority of users. If you encounter any issues using Python, please contact us and we will be happy to help resolve them as quickly as possible.

Please let us know of any troubles using the cluster by sending email to hcc-support@unl.edu

  • 2015-06-24:  RESCHEDULED: HCC Crane Downtime Planned - July 1, 2015
    Category:  General Announcement

This maintenance outage for software updates affects Crane only.

Jobs which cannot complete before July 1st at 9:00am will be held in queue until the maintenance is complete. We anticipate this work will be finished by 6:00pm the same day.

To minimize the impact to running jobs we are declaring a downtime for Crane to complete this work. We will use this maintenance window to update various software components across the cluster. The Crane login node will also be updated and will require users to log off. Users will be denied access to the Crane login node until the maintenance is completed.
